I must stay positive, but there are no seats left in that side of the bus. Too tired to stand.
Good Morning beautiful Mamas!! I took the day off to go to the bike rodeo. The girls demanded it. Addie just took her training wheels off LAST WEEK. She has a hard time getting started by herself still. We tried to talk her out of it. This morning she woke up saying she's going to win. UG! I'm so nervous for her. (they are using the same bike lol)
Teaching MS is like being in MS all over again. Did I tell you I hated MS. It was not easy. But I'm adult now and I'm surrounded by intelligent responsible adults. We have a huge faculty too. Something really close to 100. ELA is the biggest department. 25 lovely ladies and one nice man. 8 in our grade. We meet with our OLC team; 8 8th grade Lang Arts ladies EVERY TUES and THURS. That's a lot of time to spend "working it out." Especially when there are several AKIAs in the group. I speak up occasionally but mostly I take notes. My head still down. I've been treated poorly a few times. Once the lead ended up in my room after school tearfully apologizing. But I take it as a compliment. I know I made them look bad. Or my good teaching does anyway. I'm good at my job. Besides I couldn't care less how they feel or behave. When it comes down to it (observation scheduled for the week before Thksgn Break), I can defend my own teaching and I will. My mentor is amazing. She makes everyone look bad. She is the cutest long blonde hair always stylish mom that makes ALL her kids work. College level material. She tells them often, THIS IS EIGHT GRADE! I love her. She's making me so much better. She has saved me from drowning this year. She is the most generous person I know. A gift from God.
So my kids are coming around. They are totally digging our unit on Shakespeare. We discussed Hamlet and Sonnet 18 today. They do not know who Jerry Springer is. sad sad day. Incest, conspiracy, revenge, murder and finally tradegy. Did u know the Lion King is based on Hamlet. I rocked the house with that one. They ate it up and want more. Tomorrow we get a taste of Shylock in Merchant of Venice. Love that book! I already hooked them with Romeo and Juliet at the beginning of the year. We will revisit that briefly. I love English.
